This job opening is for a Prep/Line Cook position, an integral role in the kitchen operations at Margaritaville and Landshark. The position calls for a responsible individual who can prepare and cook food items efficiently while adhering strictly to company-directed specifications and quality standards. As part of the culinary team, the Prep/Line Cook will ensure that all stations are properly stocked and set up to meet guest safety and food quality standards. The role involves not only food preparation but also coordination to ensure timely delivery of meals that meet established recipes and plating guidelines, which includes consistent product quality and proper cook times.

The Prep/Line Cook will be expected to work independently under normal conditions, executing designated preparation or cooking duties while anticipating guest needs and meeting special requests without compromising standards. The position requires maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout daily shifts by following established HACCP documentation and procedures. Maintaining a clean workstation and assisting in kitchen cleanliness, including cleaning cooking surfaces and storage areas, is an important aspect of this role. Safety is essential while handling knives and other food preparation equipment, as is restocking and breaking down stations after shifts. The candidate will also assist in training new staff when necessary and cross-train in various kitchen stations, contributing toward overall team success and guest satisfaction.

Job Requirements

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Six months to one year minimum experience as a prep/line cook in a full-service, high-volume restaurant
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques relevant to prep/line position
  • Ability to interact professionally with other departments and external contacts
  • Ability to complete heavy workload and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities
  • High school degree or GED preferred
  • Culinary degree or equivalent preferred
  • Must obtain health permit/food safety cards and alcohol awareness certification where required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high energy, physically demanding environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach 100% of working time
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and move objects
  • Ability to maintain balance on uneven or slippery surfaces
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and ramps
  • Ability to lift loads over 35 pounds
  • Ability to communicate clearly in the primary language of the restaurant
  • Hearing ability with or without correction
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Ensures all materials and supplies are available
  • Sets up station according to established guidelines and requirements to ensure guest safety
  • Ensures that all foods are prepared according to established recipes and plating guidelines, including product quality and cook time standards
  • Coordinates food orders to ensure timely and efficient delivery to each table
  • Executes designated preparation and/or line stations without support under normal conditions
  • Prepares food according to the sales forecast and business level
  • Meets special guest requests while providing the same quality standards
