The role of a Cook at Watermark Retirement Communities involves preparing and cooking high-quality meals for residents in a timely, professional manner. This position plays a key part in ensuring the nutritional and dining needs of residents are met with care and precision while maintaining rigorous sanitation and safety standards. Working closely with kitchen staff and under the guidance of the executive or sous chef, the cook is responsible for preparing ingredients, setting up cooking stations, cooking menu items, managing food inventory, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the kitchen.
Beyond food preparation, the cook also upholds a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with coworkers and residents, supporting a collaborative and respectful environment. Job Requirements
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry's best practice

Job Duties
- Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare food for service (e.g., chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef's instructions
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
