Job Description

Silver Diner Development LLC stands as a prominent leader in the casual dining sector, recognized for its commitment to delivering a fresh, local, and health-conscious menu that bridges the gap between traditional tablecloth restaurants and typical fast food. Emphasizing quality and sustainability, Silver Diner partners directly with over 15 local farms that prioritize organic and sustainable farming techniques to ensure the freshest ingredients are used in every dish. This dedication to quality is paired with an inclusive and caring company culture that has earned Silver Diner accolades such as being named one of the Washington Post’s 'Most Diverse Places to Work', featuring in Full Service Restaurant Magazine’s '20 Full Service Restaurants to Watch', and winning the 2020 TDn2K Best Practices Award in the Family Dining category. These honors speak to Silver Diner’s ongoing commitment to excellence, diversity, and innovation in the hospitality industry.

Silver Diner places its people at the center of its mission, fostering a culture where team members are empowered to thrive professionally and personally. The company boasts a remarkable internal promotion rate, with over 60% of its managers and all General Managers and Area Directors having risen through the ranks internally. This approach reflects Silver Diner’s view that providing career growth opportunities is just as important as delivering excellent food and service. Employee development is embedded in the company’s ethos, encouraging team members to build rewarding, long-term careers within the organization.

The role of Line Cook at Silver Diner is essential to the company’s promise of delivering delicious food crafted with precision and passion. Line Cooks join a dynamic and energetic kitchen team that prepares visually appealing and flavorful dishes inspired by recipes developed by award-winning Executive Chef Ype Von Hengst. This position offers an excellent career path for individuals interested in advancing their culinary skills and knowledge. From mastering global flavor profiles and staying on top of contemporary food trends to mastering multiple kitchen stations, line cooks are provided with hands-on opportunities to expand their expertise.

Additionally, Silver Diner’s hat development program supports career progression by enabling team members to acquire new skills and take on increasing responsibilities, potentially advancing to trainer, supervisor, or management roles. This opportunity for growth distinguishes the position from a typical kitchen job, making it an ideal stepping stone for those who aspire to leadership roles in the culinary field.

The company’s mission emphasizes excellence in people, product, guest satisfaction, and growth. Silver Diner invests in nurturing its workforce, maintaining high standards in food quality, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. It encourages team members to say 'yes' to guest requests whenever possible, ensuring that service consistently exceeds expectations. Growth at Silver Diner is achieved through adhering to these core principles, not at their expense.

Silver Diner values a warm, friendly work environment where everyone feels included and motivated to perform at their best. The fast-paced and fun atmosphere fosters a sense of family among employees and provides plenty of opportunities to connect with guests on a personal level. As one of the busiest casual dining restaurants in America, this role offers invaluable experience and the chance to be part of a thriving concept with a strong reputation for quality and innovation.
