Job Description

Busy Bayville waterfront restaurant hiring line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. Full-time and part-time available. Fast-paced kitchen with steady hours and immediate start. Experience preferred but willing to train reliable people.

The Ocean Restaurant, set within one of long island’s most spectacular waterfront venues, ocean provides guests with an unparalleled dining experience and setting. the restaurant’s architecture, which includes floating sculptures of fish chasing squid through the dining room is bettered only by the panoramic views of the Atlantic waters as they arrive on the beach of the long island sound.

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a strong understanding of kitchen operations. As a Line Cook, you will play a critical role in meal preparation, ensuring that each dish is prepared to perfection and meets our high standards of quality and presentation. You will work closely with other kitchen staff to create an exceptional dining experience for our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards
  • Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner while maintaining high quality
  • Assist in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new dishes
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including proper food handling practices
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives and other culinary tools
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during peak hours
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations within the kitchen environment

Skills

  • Previous experience in food service or restaurant settings preferred
  • Strong knowledge of meal preparation techniques and culinary skills
  • Familiarity with menu planning and dietary department requirements is a plus
  • Excellent knife skills and proficiency in food handling practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members
