Job Description

Mad Town Gastropub, located inside Madison Regional Airport, is a vibrant and dynamic dining establishment that combines the casual comfort of a gastropub with the excitement of serving air travelers and airport staff. Renowned for offering quality food and a welcoming atmosphere, Mad Town Gastropub is part of SSP America, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations. As a full-service gastropub, it specializes in delivering freshly prepared meals with a focus on taste, freshness, and excellent service. The location at Madison Regional Airport provides team members with an exciting and fast-paced work environment where customer service and efficient kitchen operations are paramount.

Currently, Mad Town Gastropub is seeking dedicated Line Cooks to join their culinary team. This position offers both full-time and part-time shifts, providing flexibility for various scheduling needs. Starting pay is competitive at $19.00 per hour, alongside attractive benefits including a free meal during every shift, two weeks of paid time off (PTO), immediate hiring, and promising opportunities for career advancement. These features make the Line Cook position a desirable opportunity for culinary professionals who are eager to grow their skills and contribute to a high-energy kitchen environment.

The role of the Line Cook at Mad Town Gastropub is essential to the smooth operation of the kitchen and directly impacts the quality and satisfaction of guests. Line Cooks are responsible for following all recipes accurately and practicing strict portion control to ensure each dish is presented attractively and consistently. The position requires maintaining an organized and adequately prepared kitchen station each day, which helps guarantee the efficient flow of food preparation and service. Stock requisitioning and proper storage of food, paper products, and condiments fall under the Line Cook’s duties, emphasizing the importance of inventory management and health standards within the kitchen.

Additional responsibilities include handling, storing, and rotating products correctly to preserve freshness and quality. Line Cooks are also tasked with the set-up, ongoing maintenance, cleaning, and break down of kitchen equipment and machinery, which is crucial to maintaining a safe and hygienic workspace. Daily tasks include cutting, stocking, and managing perishables while adhering to quality expectations and safety standards. Furthermore, Line Cooks complete opening, mid-shift, and closing checklists, ensuring that the kitchen meets regulatory compliance and maintains a high standard throughout the day.

This role demands physical endurance to stand for extended periods and work comfortably within a potentially confined kitchen space. Strong communication skills are necessary as the Line Cook will interact with other kitchen staff, management, and occasionally guests to ensure seamless service and prompt fulfillment of orders. Problem-solving and the ability to handle the fast pace of airport dining are valuable traits for success in this position.

Mad Town Gastropub and SSP America are committed to equal employment opportunities and prioritize diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in their hiring process. They offer reasonable accommodations upon request during the application and interview process to comply with applicable laws. For culinary professionals eager to advance their careers within a reputable, fast-paced, and customer-focused environment, this Line Cook position offers an excellent platform and promising future growth.
