This role is an integral part of our culinary team, focusing on the precise and efficient preparation of a diverse range of menu items including meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products. The successful candidate will be accountable for preparing and portioning ingredients prior to cooking, as well as for the meticulous plating and garnishing of final dishes. This position demands a high standard of quality control, consistency in following recipe specifications and portion sizes, and adherence to kitchen policies and safety standards. The work environment is fast-paced and requires excellent organizational skills and teamwork to maintain smooth service periods.

As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for utilizing a variety of cooking equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of workstations and equipment is essential, as is ensuring proper storage and rotation of all food items to meet safety regulations. The role also includes assisting in food prep during slower periods, helping close the kitchen following detailed procedures, and actively participating in team meetings to contribute ideas for continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • Six months of experience in a similar capacity
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with all staff
  • Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to work on feet continuously
  • Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Willingness to work days, nights, and weekends
  • Part-time availability
  • Current Food Safety Certificate
  • Completion of company harassment and violence prevention training

Job Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills

  • Culinary certificate preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking in various kitchen equipment
  • Take full responsibility for the quality of products served
  • Adhere to standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies
  • Stock and maintain food product levels at line stations
  • Portion food products before cooking according to recipes
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstation and kitchen equipment
  • Prepare items by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning, and marinating
  • Follow proper plate presentation and garnish setup
  • Handle, store, and rotate food products safely
  • Assist in food prep during off-peak periods
  • Close the kitchen properly and adhere to closing checklists
  • Attend employee meetings and suggest improvements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by kitchen management
