Job Description
Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is a dynamic restaurant brand rooted in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, founded by two LSU walk-on basketball players who turned their passion for teamwork and hard work into a thriving business. This establishment celebrates its Louisiana heritage by crafting scratch-made dishes infused with authentic local flavors, complemented by a high-energy, game-day atmosphere that appeals to sports fans and food lovers alike. Walk-On's has grown from a single eatery to a nationally recognized brand known for its welcoming environment where every team member is treated like family. The culture at Walk-On's prioritizes energy, passion, and pride, making it a place where employees can grow, shine, and contribute to memorable guest experiences. They operate with core values centered on teamwork, hospitality, passion, growth, and community, ensuring a supportive and inclusive workplace.
The part-time cook positions at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux offer an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the kitchen where the magic of game day comes to life. Reporting to the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty, cooks are essential to the daily operation, preparing a variety of menu items including prep, fry, line, grill, salad, and sandwich station tasks. This role demands a team-first attitude, punctuality, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Cooks are responsible for executing chef-driven recipes with precision — prepping ingredients, cooking with care, and plating dishes that reflect Walk-On’s championship-quality standards. The job requires maintaining a clean and organized kitchen by following "clean as you go" practices and adhering to strict sanitation and food safety protocols.
Expect to handle high-volume shifts gracefully, using proper portioning tools to ensure consistency in every dish served. Beyond cooking, responsibilities include maintaining kitchen equipment, assisting with deliveries and stocking, supporting teammates wherever necessary, and completing end-of-shift cleanup duties. Walk-On's values individuals who are quick learners, able to multitask, and maintain composure under pressure. Staff members must be comfortable working around high heat and kitchen equipment, possess the stamina to stand and move for extended periods, and have a strong focus on safety standards such as HACCP.
The position is ideal for those with or without previous kitchen experience, as the company is committed to training passionate teammates ready to grow with them. Flexible scheduling supports students and those balancing other commitments, while the collaborative culture fosters personal and professional development opportunities, making it possible for a line cook to advance to kitchen leadership roles. Embracing a gameday atmosphere full of camaraderie and hustle, this role at Walk-On’s promises not just a job, but a chance to be part of a winning team dedicated to delivering authentic cuisine and exceptional hospitality.
