Specifically, Sodexo is hiring a Line Cook for the Blythedale Children's Hospital location. This part-time opportunity is ideal for individuals eager to work in a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen environment with varied shifts primarily covering weekends in the mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings. The pay rate for this role is set at $23.60 per hour, which offers competitive compensation for culinary professionals looking to grow their expertise within a reputable global company. The Line Cook role is crucial in delivering an exceptional dining experience by preparing, cooking, portioning, and presenting diverse hot and cold food items to Sodexo’s high standards of quality and safety.

As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for implementing Sodexo’s culinary standards which emphasize quality, consistency, safety, and sanitation within a highly regulated healthcare setting. The position requires working efficiently and accurately to meet production schedules and client expectations, including the preparation of meals for all service periods and special events. Your work contributes directly to the well-being and satisfaction of patients, staff, and visitors, making it a role with a direct impact in a meaningful environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • knowledge of basic kitchen equipment and food-handling procedures
  • ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • physically able to stand or walk for long periods during shifts
  • able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • attend work and start scheduled shifts on time

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operation
  • familiarity with food-handling procedures
  • ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • good understanding of food preparation
  • ability to read and follow recipes unsupervised

Job Duties

  • Prepare food according to applicable federal, state, and corporate standards
  • follow recipes and product directions for cooking and serving food items
  • taste and check food quality
  • estimate food requirements and maintain production records
  • maintain a clean and organized workstation
  • comply with food safety and sanitation protocols
  • perform other duties as assigned
