Job Description

American Cruise Lines is the largest cruise line in the United States, specializing in luxurious river cruises along America’s scenic rivers. The company operates a versatile fleet that ranges from contemporary riverboats to classic paddlewheel paddlewheelers that offer a nostalgic steamboat experience. Renowned for its dedication to quality and American heritage, American Cruise Lines focuses on providing a superior cruise experience that highlights regional culture and cuisine. Employing a diverse team of hospitality professionals, the company maintains high standards in service, comfort, and guest satisfaction. Each vessel is designed with passenger comfort in mind, featuring comfortable living quarters for crew and spectacular views of the waterways. The company’s core values—Optimism, Commitment, Patriotism, and Merit—guide its culture and customer service, ensuring every voyage shares a uniquely American story with guests.

The role of a Line Cook aboard American Cruise Lines’ fleet is a dynamic and integral position within the culinary team for the 2026 season. This full-time, exempt position entails preparing varied and high-quality meals for guests, focusing on breakfast, lunch, and dinner service. Line Cooks collaborate closely with Executive Chefs and Sous Chefs in producing beautifully crafted dishes that emphasize fresh, local, and regional ingredients. The kitchen environment is challenging yet rewarding, providing the opportunity to work with skilled chefs from prestigious culinary backgrounds. Responsibilities include managing food preparation efficiently, adhering to hygiene and food safety standards, and accommodating all guest dietary requests. Working onboard requires adaptability as the kitchen is subject to ship motion from waves and currents, making the ability to work under pressure and maintain composure crucial. This role includes 7-day workweeks on board with 6 weeks on duty followed by 2 weeks unpaid vacation. The position offers competitive daily pay, health, dental, vision insurance, and retirement benefits, along with travel, room and board, uniform, and training expenses covered by the company. Joining American Cruise Lines means becoming part of a dedicated team committed to culinary excellence and providing guests with an unforgettable dining experience on America’s finest ships.
