Job Description

PJ Whelihan's Restaurant + Pub in Wynnewood, PA, is a celebrated neighborhood dining destination known for its inviting atmosphere and strong community ties. Founded in honor of the founder's grandfather, PJ Whelihan's establishments each boast a unique vibe but share a common commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences. The restaurant features an impressive TV package making it the ideal spot to watch sports action while enjoying a wide selection of beers on tap, including their signature PJW Copper Lager crafted by Victory Brewing Company. Famous for their wings, PJ Whelihan's has built a loyal customer base and a devoted following throughout the community.

The role of Line Cook at PJ Whelihan's is a vital part of maintaining the high standards the restaurant is known for. This position reports directly to the Assistant Kitchen Manager or Kitchen Manager, playing an essential role in the kitchen's daily operations. Line cooks are responsible for preparing food items using various cooking methods such as broiling, grilling, frying, and sautéing, ensuring adherence to portion sizes, presentation, and quality standards. They maintain cleanliness and sanitation in their work areas, handle food storage and rotation properly, and support smooth kitchen service by stocking food products and assisting with food prep during slower periods. The role requires a calm, composed demeanor in a high-volume fast-paced environment and demands ownership of food quality, adherence to kitchen policies, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members.

This is a hands-on position that requires not only culinary skills but also a friendly, charismatic personality to maintain the warm, inviting atmosphere characteristic of PJ Whelihan's. The ideal candidate will take pride in their appearance and professionalism, show leadership qualities by confidently managing their duties, and consistently deliver exceptional service that keeps guests returning. Physical stamina is necessary as the position involves standing for extended periods and lifting items up to 40 pounds. Communication skills are also essential to effectively work with management and fellow staff.

PJW Restaurant Group, the parent company, has thrived for over three decades by relentlessly striving for excellence and innovation in the hospitality industry. With more than 1,800 employees, the Group treasures its roots in local communities and emphasizes growth, mentoring, and career progression within their workforce. Their commitment to quality and upward mobility is reflected in their dedication to creating unique dining experiences and encouraging internal growth from entry-level positions to management roles. Benefits of working with PJW include health benefits, paid training, employee discounts, a referral program, weekly pay, employee perks, and holiday closures to provide work-life balance.
