Job Description
PJ Whelihan's Restaurant + Pub located near Norristown, PA is a well-established neighborhood dining and entertainment destination known for its warm atmosphere and dedication to providing a great guest experience. PJ Whelihan's is currently seeking motivated and skilled Line Cooks to join their culinary team. Reporting directly to the Assistant Kitchen Manager or Kitchen Manager, the Line Cook role is essential to maintaining the high standard of food quality and service that guests expect. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment and have a passion for preparing classic American pub fare with consistency and precision. The role demands strong culinary skills including broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking techniques, as well as attention to detail in plate presentation and adherence to portion sizes and recipes.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous kitchen or line cook experience preferred
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
- Positive attitude and teamwork orientation
Job Qualifications
- Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)
Job Duties
- Prepare items for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating
- Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
- Know and comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment
- Handle, store and rotate all products properly
- Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure smooth service
- Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
- Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served
- Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
- Close the kitchen properly following the closing checklist for kitchen stations
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty
