Currently, Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is seeking dedicated and energetic Line Cooks to join their team. This role is perfect for individuals who thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment and have an exceptionally positive attitude. Line Cooks at Walk-On's must be adept at multitasking, be highly organized, and maintain professional and cordial working relationships with other staff members, supervisors, and guests. This part-time position adheres to federal health reform laws regarding work hours and benefits eligibility, with scheduling flexibility to accommodate business needs.
The Line Cook position demands meticulous attention to food preparation standards, including strict adherence to Walk-On's recipes and procedures. Successful candidates will be responsible for setting up and maintaining their workstation, following daily prep sheets, and ensuring food safety through proper rotation and labeling of prepped and un-prepped items. They must practice 'clean as you go' techniques to prevent cross-contamination, assist in daily line checklists for shift readiness, and calibrate equipment like bio-thermometers and scales to ensure accuracy in food portioning and cooking temperatures. The ability to work independently without constant supervision is crucial.
Physically, the job involves continuous standing for long periods, bending, lifting items up to 60 pounds, and working in environments exposed to high heat. Candidates must also be able to read and understand recipes and prep sheets in English and competently operate kitchen equipment such as fryers, char-grills, flat-top grills, and slicers. Job Requirements
- Continuous standing up to 10+ hours, bending, lifting and carrying items up to 60 pounds
- Exposure to heat up to 1000 F or more
- Must be able to hear and respond to calls made in the kitchen in English
- Must be able to operate fryers, char-grill, flat top grill, and slicer
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Must adhere to uniform guidelines
- Must be at least 18 years of age to operate the slicer
Job Qualifications
- Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment
- Ability to multitask effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to read and understand recipes and prep sheets in English
- Competent in using kitchen equipment such as fryers, grills, and slicers

Job Duties
- Arrives to work on time, well-groomed in a clean uniform for every shift
- Always demonstrates a positive attitude, willing to help out where needed
- Follows all Walk-On's safety, sanitation, and employee guidelines
- Follows day prep sheet and completes all duties assigned
- Sets up sani-buckets, maintains a clean work area during the shift
- Follows proper food rotation, understands how to date and label all items both prepped and un-prepped
- Strictly adheres to Walk-On's recipes and procedures when preparing any food items
