The Courtyard Portland City Center is currently seeking a part-time Morning Line Cook to join their dynamic culinary team. This role is essential in delivering high-quality food and service to guests while maintaining stringent standards of hygiene and operational efficiency. The Morning Line Cook will play a critical role in ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly during the morning service period, upholding the brand's reputation for quality and consistency. The Morning Line Cook will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes by strictly following recipe cards and production standards. This includes careful monitoring of food presentation, temperature control, and portion sizes to ensure optimal guest satisfaction. The position also involves managing kitchen equipment and overseeing the cleanliness and organization of the work area to comply with health and safety regulations. Additionally, the Morning Line Cook will help control food costs and minimize waste by adhering to set standards for food preparation and storage.
This role requires a person with both a practical understanding of kitchen operations and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to the team. Candidates should be comfortable with the physical demands of kitchen work, including lifting and standing for extended periods. The environment features variable temperatures, from cold storage areas to heated cooking stations, demanding adaptability and resilience. Furthermore, the Morning Line Cook will be expected to assist in training junior cooks, thereby supporting the overall skill development and efficiency of the culinary team.

Job Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- One to two years of experience in a related position
- Knowledge of cooking and kitchen procedures
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work in varying temperature environments
- Strong communication skills
Job Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent
- One to two years of experience in a related position with this company or another organization
- Knowledge of cooking and kitchen practices and procedures to perform non-repetitive analytical work
Job Duties
- Check all items against the recipe cards
- verify that use records are followed for all items served and that food is presented in an efficient, quality manner
- Monitor the line set up prior to all meal functions to ensure maximum efficiency during meal periods
- Monitor the equipment maintenance and kitchen clean as you go policy to ensure strict adherence
- Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per dupe from servers
- Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare more than estimated needs
- Date all food containers and rotate as per the SOP, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
- Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up
- Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
- Assist in keeping buffet stocked
- Return all food items not used on next shift to designed storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables
- Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems
- control food waste, loss and usage per SOP
