The role of Line Cook at The Elizabeth Hotel & Emporium is a crucial one, designed to uphold the highest standards of food quality and kitchen operations. The Line Cook is responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of all dishes prepared on the line, adhering strictly to recipe cards and portion standards. This position demands attentiveness to food safety, sanitation, and equipment maintenance to meet both health regulations and company protocols.

As a Line Cook here, you will be at the frontline, managing food preparation efficiently for meal periods with precision and care. Your role will also include monitoring inventory, assisting in controlling food costs, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen environment by following a rigorous ‘clean as you go’ policy. Physical stamina is important for this job, as the work involves lifting substantial weights, standing for long periods, and moving around the kitchen. Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • One to two full years of employment in related positions
  • Experience with sauté and grill cooking
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Physical mobility to move around the kitchen area
  • Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures
  • Commitment to maintaining sanitation and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • One to two years of related experience including sauté and grill
  • Knowledge of kitchen practices and procedures to perform analytical work
  • Ability to follow recipe cards and maintain food quality standards
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Check all items against the recipe cards and verify use records
  • Monitor the line setup prior to meal functions to ensure efficiency
  • Ensure equipment maintenance and enforce kitchen cleanliness policies
  • Prepare food consistently following production and portion standards and server dupe
  • Start prepared ahead food items without exceeding estimated needs
  • Date and rotate food containers per SOP and maintain proper temperature control
  • Check pars for shift needs and arrange necessary preparation
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages
  • Assist in keeping buffet stocked
  • Return unused food items properly covered and dated
  • Help develop plans to control food costs and reduce waste
