Boat House, located in Tiverton, Rhode Island, is a distinguished restaurant that celebrates the rich natural abundance of coastal New England. Known for its fresh seafood, locally sourced produce, and genuine hospitality, Boat House offers guests an exceptional dining experience with panoramic views over Mt. Hope Bay. The restaurant is part of the Newport Restaurant Group, a 100% employee-owned company, which means that employees have the opportunity to become owners and share in the company’s success. At Boat House, the commitment to quality food and a positive work environment makes it a standout establishment in the New England hospitality scene.
The role of the Line Cook at Boat House is crucial in maintaining the restaurant’s high culinary standards. The Line Cook will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of dishes including soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other menu items. This position demands a passion for food, strong organizational skills, and a positive attitude. While prior cooking experience is preferred, it is not mandatory as the company is willing to train individuals who are eager to learn. The Line Cook will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure every dish meets the recipe specifications and the quality expectations of both the guests and the restaurant. This role requires a flexible schedule as shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
The restaurant compensates its employees competitively, offering an hourly wage between $19 and $23, depending on experience. Additionally, the position comes with an attractive $800 sign-on bonus paid out in increments after specified periods of employment. Boat House supports its employees not just financially but also through benefits that foster wellness and work-life balance. This includes access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, and health reimbursement accounts. Employees also enjoy various perks such as a 35% dining discount, employee assistance programs, and opportunities for financial growth through generous 401k matching and employee ownership programs.
Working at Boat House means being part of a team that values collaboration and respect, contributing to an equitable workplace environment. Job tasks include measuring and mixing ingredients, washing and prepping vegetables and fruits, and cooking a variety of proteins and other foods according to recipe and procedure. The job requires physical stamina, as standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds is common. The company prides itself on providing a friendly and supportive work culture, emphasizing teamwork and the shared goal of delivering excellent food and service to its guests.
Joining Boat House means more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to grow within a reputable hospitality group committed to employee ownership and empowerment.
