Job Description

Covenant Living is a renowned provider of senior living and healthcare services dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults. With campuses and care services that include independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and home health care, Covenant Living focuses on creating supportive environments where residents can thrive with dignity, respect, and comfort. Their commitment to compassionate care is reflected in their diverse offerings, including specialized memory care and rehabilitation services.

Covenant Living is seeking a skilled Line Cook to join their dynamic culinary team in a Senior Living/Healthcare environment. This full-time role involves the accurate and efficient preparation, portioning, cooking, and presentation of a variety of hot and cold food items across multiple meal periods—Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events. The position requires the ability to produce a wide range of foods using classical cooking techniques, ensuring consistent, high-quality meals tailored to resident needs, including special diets. The Line Cook will play a vital role in maintaining the sanitation and safety standards as required by federal, state, and local regulations.

The ideal candidate for this position holds a high school diploma and possesses a current Food Handler's Permit, with additional certifications such as ServSafe training and state sanitation certificates being beneficial. With 3 to 4 years of advanced food service and cooking experience, particularly within a healthcare or senior living setting, the candidate should be proficient in operating kitchen equipment and possess intermediate to advanced knife skills. Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and preparation practices is essential.

Key responsibilities include preparing foods to order, operating grill stations, following standardized recipes to ensure quality and quantity, and providing excellent customer service to residents and staff. The role also encompasses receiving inventory, managing food storage, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of workspaces, and adhering strictly to safety protocols. Effective communication skills, dependability, attention to detail, and the ability to work under limited supervision are critical to success.

Physical requirements of the job include frequent standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and the ability to perform various movements essential for kitchen work, such as stooping, reaching, and climbing. Covenant Living emphasizes a supportive work environment with opportunities for professional growth, contributing to the overall wellness of their residents.

In terms of compensation, the Line Cook position offers an hourly rate between $20.00 and $23.00, reflecting factors such as qualifications, experience, and location. Covenant Living also provides a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, employer-paid life and disability insurance, paid time off and holidays, a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, fitness center access, tuition assistance, employee assistance programs, and various voluntary benefits.

Joining Covenant Living as a Line Cook presents an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of senior residents through culinary excellence. The role is both challenging and rewarding, suited to those with a passion for food preparation and a desire to work in a compassionate healthcare setting. Prospective applicants are encouraged to review Covenant Living's commitment to equal opportunity employment and their inclusive workplace culture.
