The Prep/Line Cook role at a Lowlands Group restaurant is a critical position that supports the overall kitchen operation. This role involves extensive training to ensure each candidate is well-prepared to meet the demands of a fast-paced culinary environment. As a Prep/Line Cook, you will be instrumental in producing high volumes of food with precision and consistency. Your efficiency, speed, and attention to detail contribute directly to the smooth function of the kitchen and ultimately to guest satisfaction. This position requires collaboration with fellow team members and direct communication and reporting to the Chef or Sous Chef.

The Prep/Line Cook serves as the driving force behind the back-of-house operations and is considered the last line of defense for the restaurant's quality standards. Responsibilities include setting up cooking stations according to strict guidelines, preparing food items promptly and hygienically, adhering to recipe specifications, portion control, and proper presentation. You will also be responsible for restocking ingredients throughout your shift and maintaining a clean and organized station, following best practices in safety and sanitation. Knowledge of equipment use and maintenance at your station is essential to maintain efficiency and minimize downtime.

Beyond individual station duties, Prep/Line Cooks assist in maintaining the overall kitchen environment — including the walk-in coolers and all storage spaces — ensuring cleanliness and organization are upheld at all times. Additional duties may be assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Manager, affirming the importance of flexibility and teamwork in this role.

This position demands an individual who can work under pressure while maintaining calm and composure, showing strong problem-solving skills and self-motivation. A commitment to quality service and deep knowledge of food and beverage operations are necessary to thrive as a Prep/Line Cook at Lowlands Group. Physical stamina is required, as the role involves standing for long periods, lifting moderate weights, bending, and working on uneven surfaces. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a prep or line cook position
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift up to fifty pounds

  • Must be self-motivated and organized

Job Duties

  • Sets up station according to restaurant guidelines
  • Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant
  • Restocks all items as needed throughout shift
  • Cleans and maintains station in practicing good safety, sanitation, organizational skills
  • Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station
  • Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef or Kitchen Manager at any time
