Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year cooking experience at a restaurant or hotel
- Ability to read and understand English
- Ability to work under high stress levels both physically and mentally
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures such as freezer and direct heat
- Must be punctual and follow uniform guidelines
- Must maintain a positive and guest-focused attitude
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year cooking experience at a restaurant or hotel
- Computer literacy
- Hospitality and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task
- English language proficiency
- Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
- Ability to work under high levels of stress both mental and physical
- Mathematics skills for measurements and recipe calculations
- Knife skills are beneficial
- Food safety certification is a plus
Job Duties
- Operate kitchen equipment such as fryers, ovens, stoves, mixers and additional equipment
- Prepare simple dishes, dressings and foods according to directions
- Prepare foods for cooking and assist others as instructed
- Check for adequate supply of foods and seasonings
- Understand production and prep scheduling and create or follow production charts
- Strategically prepare production to minimize waste and maintain clean food preparation areas
- Demonstrate safe food handling procedures including labeling, dating and rotating
- Clean kitchen area and operate ware-washing equipment
- Use time productively, stay organized and plan tasks efficiently
- Safely operate and clean all kitchen equipment
- Complete daily checklists and inspection logs
- Comply with portion sizes, quality standards and garnishes and educate others to enforce standards
- Make effective decisions and accept responsibility
- Resolve guest complaints promptly and satisfactorily
- Arrive on time according to posted schedule
- Adhere to uniform guidelines including wearing clean uniform, hat or hair net and work shoes
- Maintain a positive can do and guests first attitude
- Work as part of the hotel team to exceed guest expectations
- Attend scheduled training sessions
- Read and understand English to comply with directions
