Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Minimum 1 year cooking experience
  • Experience at a similar size and quality hotel recommended
  • Ability to speak, read and understand basic cooking directions
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and plate presentation
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware

Job Duties

  • Prepares and garnishes all food orders in accordance with menu specifications under the guidance of the Chef
  • Prepares sauces, soups and hot entrees in accordance with menu
  • Use and follow recipes, adjust recipes accurately
  • Uses high-quality ingredients and measures them accurately
  • Operates all kitchen equipment accurately
  • Taste tests and evaluates foods before serving to ensure standards are met
  • Portions food into standard servings
  • Garnishes food attractively and presents using proper plate presentation techniques
  • Coordinates completion of menu items with servers
  • Sets up for meals ensuring proper amounts based on forecasted covers, special functions and reservations
  • Assists in controlling food costs by minimizing waste and loss
  • Organizes and maintains work, cooler and storage areas
  • Prepares work checklist and organizes workstations for each shift
  • Checks and maintains cleanliness, quantity and quality of food products in coolers and storage
  • Requisitions food following necessary approval policies
  • Maintains kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Ensures kitchen area remains clean and free of hazards
  • Dates and rotates food containers according to SOP
  • Returns unused food items to storage properly covered and dated
  • Keeps floor clean and free of food items or obstacles
  • Prepares daily staff meals that are healthy and appetizing
  • Serves safe and appealing food following safe food-handling guidelines
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas according to schedule
  • Provides genuine hospitality and teamwork, ensuring 100% guest satisfaction
  • Responds empathetically and resolves guest problems effectively
  • Performs other duties as required to deliver exceptional hospitality
