Job Requirements

- Culinary degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year cooking experience
- Experience at a similar size and quality hotel recommended
- Ability to speak, read and understand basic cooking directions

Job Duties
- Prepares and garnishes all food orders in accordance with menu specifications under the guidance of the Chef
- Prepares sauces, soups and hot entrees in accordance with menu
- Use and follow recipes, adjust recipes accurately
- Uses high-quality ingredients and measures them accurately
- Operates all kitchen equipment accurately
- Taste tests and evaluates foods before serving to ensure standards are met
- Portions food into standard servings
- Garnishes food attractively and presents using proper plate presentation techniques
- Coordinates completion of menu items with servers
- Sets up for meals ensuring proper amounts based on forecasted covers, special functions and reservations
- Assists in controlling food costs by minimizing waste and loss
- Organizes and maintains work, cooler and storage areas
- Prepares work checklist and organizes workstations for each shift
- Checks and maintains cleanliness, quantity and quality of food products in coolers and storage
- Requisitions food following necessary approval policies
- Maintains kitchen equipment and utensils
