Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated Line Chef to join our team on a full-time basis, working approximately 30 hours per week with varying shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays. This role is pivotal within our culinary team, focusing on delivering exceptional dining experiences tailored to the needs and preferences of our residents and guests. The Line Chef will be responsible for a broad range of culinary duties, including preparing and cooking hot and cold dishes using various cooking techniques like baking, broiling, sautéing, braising, roasting, poaching, steaming, and frying. This position demands a professional committed to culinary excellence and food safety, ensuring the highest hygiene standards are consistently met.

In addition to routine kitchen tasks, the Line Chef will play an integral role in catering and special events held within the community, showcasing their culinary creativity and attention to detail. This includes overseeing food preparation processes, adhering strictly to food safety guidelines such as proper heating, reheating, cooling, and documentation practices, and managing inventory and storage of kitchen supplies efficiently. This role requires teamwork and cooperation, as well as excellent communication skills to provide efficient, professional service while respecting the diverse population they serve.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • culinary experience of at least 2 years
  • previous experience with catering and special events
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • ability to read, write, and speak English
  • ability to relate well to all residents, including the emotionally upset
  • ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the public
  • ability to report to work regularly and promptly
  • ability to work beyond normal hours when necessary

Job Duties

  • deliver quality services by performing basic culinary tasks including food preparation of both hot and cold food items, cooking and cooling food items while adhering to established food safety requirements
  • review menu cycle, follow recipes, test product by taste, temperature, portion control and plate appeal
  • properly receive and store departmental supplies
  • follow food safety guidelines, use and document proper food safety logs
  • complete production logs, prep and pull logs, along with daily, weekly Mis-en-place
  • comply with all departmental policies and procedures including HACCP, mandatory in-services, safety regulations, CARF/CCAC guidelines
  • perform job functions in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Loomis Communities
  • adhere to the Loomis Communities Compliance and Ethics Program
  • demonstrate an awareness of, respect for and attention to the diversity of the people with whom they interact
  • provide all customers with efficient, professional and responsive service, including waiting on tables and proper processing of customer requests
  • operate dishwashing machine
  • clean and sanitize work area, properly use chemicals and follow established sanitation procedures
  • work harmoniously and cooperatively within a team structure
  • collaborate with co-workers while remaining positive and respectful
  • perform assigned tasks while promoting resident rights and independence
