Job Description

Life Time is a leading lifestyle and fitness company dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all its members and employees. Known for its commitment to health, wellness, and community, Life Time offers premium facilities that combine fitness, sport, and healthy dining experiences. As part of its diverse operations, Life Time operates LifeCafe, a vibrant food service area that emphasizes nutritious and flavorful food options catering to a variety of dietary needs and preferences. Life Time values diversity and equity within its workplace, fostering an environment where every employee has the opportunity to contribute, grow, and succeed. The company prioritizes quality, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence throughout its services, making it a respected name in the wellness and lifestyle industry.

The LifeCafe Chef role is pivotal within the Life Time ecosystem, responsible for overseeing the back of house operations to ensure high culinary standards and operational efficiency. This position leads and coordinates assembly and prep team members, as well as other kitchen staff, in preparing and cooking food that meets LifeCafe's quality and portion standards. The chef’s role focuses on maintaining food costs in line with or better than the established budget, which requires keen oversight of ordering, inventory, and cost control processes. Leadership is central to this role, as the LifeCafe Chef supervises and develops cooks and dishwashers, providing training, orientation, and continuous feedback to promote team growth and cohesion.

In addition to managing everyday kitchen activities such as cleanliness, prep list evaluation, and supply ordering, the LifeCafe Chef works closely with the Cafe Leader to assist in inventory control and operational decision-making. The role also involves making recommendations on hiring, promotions, and terminations, contributing to building a strong and motivated kitchen team. Candidates who succeed in this position demonstrate an ability to remain calm under pressure, efficiently resolve food production challenges, and maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene.

With at least two years of experience and certifications like ServSafe Food Manager, this position is ideal for skilled culinary professionals eager to lead and innovate in a dynamic food service environment. Preferred candidates have additional background in culinary education and experience managing kitchen operations, including menu development and cost control. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven company focused on health and wellness while advancing a culinary career within a supportive and diverse team environment.
