Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • high school diploma or equivalent required
  • six months of human services experience preferred
  • valid driver's license in good standing
  • car registration and insurance if providing transport
  • completion of state-mandated training and certifications
  • ability to perform duties exposing to blood or bodily fluids
  • ability to travel as needed
  • physical capacity to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally
  • reliable attendance and punctuality
  • ability to communicate clearly and respectfully
  • adherence to all safety protocols

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • six months of experience in human services preferred
  • valid driver’s license in good standing
  • completion of all state-required training and certification within mandated timeframes
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • knowledge of safety procedures and universal precautions
  • ability to maintain confidentiality and respect individuals’ rights
  • physical ability to perform heavy work
  • commitment to follow organizational policies and procedures

Job Duties

  • Attends orientation and ongoing training as directed
  • participates in monthly staff meetings
  • works scheduled hours and notifies supervisor if unable to work
  • fills in for other shifts as required without causing unapproved overtime
  • works cooperatively as part of a team
  • complies with all safety policies and reports work-related injuries
  • provides direct support according to individual service plans
  • assists with socialization, personal care, housekeeping, recreation, transportation, community orientation, shopping, financial management, and daily living activities
  • accurately documents progress and activity and maintains confidentiality
  • assists with money management as assigned
  • maintains professional relationships with individuals, families, and case managers
  • reports instances of abuse or neglect and other incidents as required
  • respects clients' rights and confidentiality
  • may accompany individuals to medical appointments
  • administers and documents medications if assigned
  • monitors individuals' health and communicates with nurses or supervisors
  • utilizes medical equipment properly and reports malfunctions
  • prepares meals according to planned menus and special diets
  • transports individuals safely and reports accidents
  • performs housekeeping and maintenance duties as directed
  • participates in safety drills and protects individuals in emergencies
  • performs other related duties as required
