The Life Enrichment Coordinator role at Jones-Harrison Senior Living is a vital position dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for senior and adult residents through meaningful and therapeutic activities. This full-time position involves working 80 hours every two weeks during day shifts with a varied schedule that includes weekdays and Saturdays. The coordinator is responsible for assessing residents’ interests and needs, then planning, implementing, and evaluating programs that foster intellectual, social, emotional, physical, cultural, intergenerational, educational, creative, and spiritual growth. These programs aim to enable residents to achieve optimal potential in multiple aspects of their well-being.

In this role, the coordinator works collaboratively with care teams and leadership to ensure programs are well coordinated and meet compliance standards with state and federal regulations, including proper documentation such as MDS, assessments, care plans, and progress notes. The Life Enrichment Coordinator plays an essential role in organizing community outings and special events, recruiting and encouraging resident participation, and supporting individual leisure activities. Additionally, they liaise with chaplains or local clergy to enhance spiritual support for residents. Those with a Bachelor of Science and certifications such as CTRS or MT-BC, along with one year or more of experience, are strongly preferred. Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Music Therapy, or related field
  • Ability to work 80 hours every two weeks including weekdays and Saturdays
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan and coordinate group and individual programs
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to medical record documentation
  • Ability to complete MDS, assessments, care plans, and progress notes
  • Valid certification preferred but not required

Job Qualifications

  • Associate of Science in Therapeutic Recreation, Music Therapy, or related field
  • Less than 1 year of experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation, Music Therapy, or related field
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience
  • Preferred: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC)

Job Duties

  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and conduct programs pertinent to the interests and needs of the individual resident
  • Initiate and take responsibility for structured and unstructured programs in intellectual, social, emotional, physical, cultural, intergenerational, educational, creative, and spiritual stimulation
  • Plan and discuss programs with the team at least one month prior to implementation
  • Recruit residents and conduct programs as scheduled
  • Arrange all necessary program responsibilities and supplies on a timely basis
  • Evaluate the therapeutic value of group programs and outings regularly and timely
  • Plan and implement community outings and special events
  • Notify residents of upcoming opportunities
  • Actively involve self in the continued growth of one-on-one programming
  • Work in cooperation with Chaplain or local clergy
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations regarding medical record documentation and participation
  • Complete MDS, assessments, care plans, and progress notes
  • Complete and update attendance and participation records
  • Gather information from other team members as it relates to resident progress
  • Attend and participate in interdisciplinary team and resident care conferences
