Job Description

Headway is a pioneering healthcare technology company dedicated to transforming the mental health landscape by making therapy more accessible and affordable through insurance acceptance. Established as a leading platform, Headway empowers licensed mental health professionals to seamlessly integrate insurance billing into their private practices. Their mission is centered on facilitating easier access to mental health services for clients who might otherwise face financial barriers or delays due to insurance complexities. By streamlining insurance credentialing and provider onboarding processes, Headway supports thousands of mental health counselors across the United States in expanding their reach and impact. Their innovative platform offers a comprehensive suite of tools including practice management software, secure client communication, scheduling, billing, and compliance resources that help practitioners maintain high standards of care while optimizing administrative efficiency. Operating with a free-to-use model and no long-term commitment requirements, Headway endears itself to practitioners new to insurance billing as well as seasoned professionals aiming to grow their clientele and income. The company has successfully helped over 50,000 providers broaden their practices and better serve diverse patient populations including those utilizing Medicare Advantage and Medicaid.

The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) role with Headway offers mental health professionals an unmatched opportunity to launch or expand their private practice by accepting insurance with ease. This position is particularly suited for fully licensed Professional Counselors at the Master's degree level or higher, who hold recognized licenses such as LPC, LPCC, LCPC, LCPCS, or LPCC-S depending on state authorization. It requires candidates to possess a valid National Provider Identifier (NPI) number and malpractice insurance. The role focuses on empowering counselors to take insurance-covered clients sooner, optimizing their earnings through higher reimbursement rates accessible via Headway's wide insurance network partnership. Working with Headway allows counselors to credential quickly—often within 30 days—and benefit from ongoing compliance support, mitigating the administrative burdens typically associated with insurance panels. In addition to helping providers increase their patient base and stabilize revenue streams via predictable bi-weekly payments, Headway’s platform includes valuable features like built-in electronic health records for streamlined documentation, scheduling, and client messaging. Providers also receive complimentary continuing education through Headway Academy, enabling them to enhance their professional development continuously. Overall, this role is ideal for LPCs seeking to build a thriving private practice while making mental health care more accessible to a broader population through insurance acceptance, supported by robust technological and administrative infrastructure. The position offers a competitive wage of up to $126 per hour and the opportunity to support a meaningful mission in the behavioral health community.
