Job Description
Protocall Services is a nationally recognized leader in behavioral healthcare and crisis intervention, serving organizations throughout the United States and Canada. Renowned for its commitment to employee well-being and mission-driven work, Protocall Services has earned the "Top Workplace" distinction for five consecutive years. The company proudly supports a diverse range of nearly 700 organizations, such as Community Mental Health Centers, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics, Managed Behavioral Healthcare Organizations, University counseling centers, and Employee Assistance Programs. Operating as a remote-first organization headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Protocall Services delivers 24/7 telephonic support with a focus on compassionate, high-quality care.
As a Crisis Counselor at Protocall Services, you will serve as a critical first responder providing telephonic emotional support, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and stabilization. This role is designed for professionals who possess emotional resilience, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to effectively multitask while maintaining clarity and professionalism during high-pressure situations. Responsibilities will include providing empathetic and ethical support to individuals experiencing a wide range of emotional and situational challenges, some of which may involve acute crisis conditions while others address supportive or administrative needs. Each interaction must be handled with a solution-focused approach to ensure every caller receives a high-quality care experience.
The position offers a full-time schedule with remote work from North Carolina, requiring candidates to be residents of this state. Compensation ranges from $28.55 to $32.55 per hour, complemented by incentive opportunities such as additional hourly pay for weekend commitments and full 40-hour workweeks, as well as shift differentials. New hires will undergo a structured six-week paid virtual training program involving skills development, role-playing, mentored live call work, and foundational crisis care education. Post-training, counselors collaborate with the Scheduling Department to establish remote schedules, which include requirements for weekend and holiday availability.
The role demands clinical expertise and licensure in behavioral health, as well as the facility to maintain a secure, HIPAA-compliant home workspace. Counselors must adeptly navigate multiple software systems and maintain precise, clinically sound documentation. Working at Protocall Services means joining an organization with a strong culture of diversity and inclusion, where every employee is valued for their unique contributions and the shared mission of providing excellent crisis support. This position offers extensive professional growth and advancement opportunities, supported by comprehensive benefits that foster both personal and career development.
