Job Description
Protocall Services is a nationally recognized leader in behavioral healthcare and crisis intervention with operations spanning across the United States and Canada. The organization has received "Top Workplace" honors for five consecutive years, highlighting its strong company culture, mission-driven focus, and dedication to employee well-being. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Protocall Services operates as a remote-first company, enabling its workforce to deliver telephonic crisis support 24/7 to individuals needing emotional and behavioral health assistance. The company partners with nearly 700 organizations, including Community Mental Health Centers, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics, Managed Behavioral Healthcare Organizations, university counseling centers, and Employee Assistance Programs, which benefit from its brief immediate support model.
The role of Crisis Counselor at Protocall Services is fundamental to its mission of providing compassionate, solution-focused telephonic support to callers facing emotional, behavioral, and situational challenges. These professionals act as first responders over the phone, delivering emotional support, conducting risk assessments, performing crisis intervention, and executing stabilization protocols. While the nature of calls can range from acute crises to administrative or general supportive conversations, the Crisis Counselor’s objective remains consistent: to ensure every caller receives ethical, empathetic, and professional care.
This full-time remote position is exclusive to Florida residents and offers a competitive hourly wage ranging between $28.55 and $32.55 per hour. Beyond base pay, employees are eligible for several incentives, including additional hourly pay for weekend shifts, full 40-hour workweeks, and shift differentials based on shift type and length of service. This job demands emotional resilience, excellent communication abilities, and strong multitasking skills. Successful candidates must be prepared to participate in a comprehensive six-week virtual training program that equips them with essential crisis care skills, role-play exercises, mentor-led live call practice, and foundational knowledge for effective intervention.
A structured onboarding process ensures counselors are fully prepared to handle sensitive calls while maintaining adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical standards. Counselors also manage a secure home workspace equipped with a locking door and a stable, wired internet connection to deliver uninterrupted and confidential services. This role offers opportunities for professional growth, ongoing development, and a supportive work environment that values diversity and inclusion. Protocall Services seeks compassionate individuals who are driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people experiencing distress. If you are committed to mental health advocacy and crisis intervention and hold the necessary credentials and licensure, this remote position offers a rewarding career path with flexibility, competitive compensation, and comprehensive benefits.
