The company serves nearly 700 different organizations nationwide, including Community Mental Health Centers, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics, Managed Behavioral Healthcare Organizations, University counseling centers, and Employee Assistance Programs. Their work follows a brief immediate support model aimed at delivering effective and compassionate care to individuals in distress. Protocall Services operates 24/7, offering telephonic support to individuals experiencing a range of emotional, behavioral, and situational challenges, ensuring they receive professional and solution-focused care.

The role of a Crisis Counselor at Protocall Services is essential to the organization’s mission of delivering immediate emotional support and crisis intervention through telephonic channels. This full-time remote position is specifically for residents of Colorado and offers a competitive hourly pay between $28.55 and $32.55. The Crisis Counselor acts as a first responder to individuals in crisis or emotional distress, providing compassionate support, risk assessment, crisis stabilization, and intervention when necessary. Counselors must demonstrate emotional resilience, exceptional communication abilities, and multi-tasking skills to handle a variety of call types including acute emergencies as well as supportive and administrative calls. The role requires building rapport with callers, listening actively, and offering resources, coping mechanisms, referrals, and safety planning. Additionally, maintaining accurate clinical documentation and operating within a secure HIPAA-compliant home environment with robust internet connectivity are fundamental aspects of the position.

Successful candidates will undergo a comprehensive six-week paid virtual training program, designed to build essential crisis counseling skills through a structured onboarding process that includes role-playing, mentored live call experience, and the foundations of crisis care. Following training, Crisis Counselors will work within a remote scheduling system, with the expectation of availability during weekends and holidays to meet demand. Incentives such as additional hourly pay for certain shift commitments, shift differentials based on tenure and schedule, and opportunities for professional growth add to the appeal of this role. Benefits include a comprehensive package with medical, dental, and life insurance, employer-matched 401(k), student loan repayment assistance, disability coverage, and more. Protocall Services emphasizes diversity and equal opportunity, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and walks of life to join their compassionate and dedicated team focused on making a difference in behavioral health crisis intervention.
