The cook is responsible for preparing a diverse range of cooked foods and must demonstrate skill in various kitchen stations including fry, flat top griddle, pantry, and egg cooking. This is a non-exempt hourly position with a starting pay of $24.05 per hour, offering a stable career path within a global leader in travel hospitality. Job Requirements
- Food preparation skills and knowledge of HACCP standards required
- Minimum of 1 year cooking experience in related field required
- Ability to follow recipes and maintain quality food presentation required
- Ability to communicate effectively with team and customers required
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds required
- Ability to stand, bend, twist and work in hot environments during shifts required
- Willingness to adhere to strict food safety and sanitation guidelines required
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of closely related cooking experience
- Work experience in high volume and casual dining restaurant environments preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques including soups, sauté, broiler, fry and pantry
- Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and policy documents
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds
- Ability to bend, twist and stand for long periods
- Familiarity with food safety and HACCP standards
Job Duties
- Follow recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving food items including soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other food products
- Taste products, follow menus, estimate food requirements, check production and keep records to plan production requirements and requisition supplies
- Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment
- Practice excellent food safety and sanitation and comply with HACCP standards
- Operate a variety of kitchen equipment and prepare ingredients including washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables
- Stock, date, rotate and check temperature of products
- Communicate ticket times and potential issues to management and servers as necessary
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management
