The Bartender position at Northern Quest Resort and Casino plays a vital role in delivering top-tier beverage service to patrons. The role involves mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while fostering a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Candidates for this position should be adept in understanding a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, possess excellent communication abilities, and thrive in fast-paced, high-energy conditions typical of a bustling casino environment. Bartenders are expected to uphold and enforce the standards set forth by the Kalispel Tribe's internal controls, the Northern Quest policies, and the Washington Liquor Control Commission regulations.

This full-time position places a strong emphasis on ensuring compliance with cash handling protocols, preparing drinks according to established recipes, and maintaining an inviting bar area. Employees in this role take orders, create cocktails, serve wine and beer, and may be responsible for cash transactions, inventory requests, and beverage presentation. The position requires team-oriented individuals who can engage guests with knowledgeable service, emphasizing enjoyment and safety by monitoring alcohol consumption. Attendance at training and ability to adapt to multiple tasks under pressure are essential for success in this role. Additionally, candidates must meet specified age and certification requirements, including possessing a Tribal Work Permit, Alcohol Server Training (MAST), and Food Handler's Permit. Job Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tribal Work Permit
  • Payment Card Training
  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years
  • Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) certification
  • Food handler's permit from relevant government agency
  • Hepatitis A vaccination preferred
  • Available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Four years current or related experience or training
  • Excellent customer relations and customer service skills
  • Ability to follow Northern Quest Resort & Casino's cash handling policy
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems under pressure conditions
  • Ability to learn and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system

Job Duties

  • Ensures compliance with the Kalispel Tribe of Indians Internal Controls and Northern Quest Policies and Procedures
  • Provides attentive and friendly service to customers
  • Take orders from customers
  • Mix ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks
  • Serve wine and draught or bottled beer
  • Collects money for drinks served and food served
  • Operates, balances, and reconciles cash till and POS sales
  • Orders or requisitions liquors and supplies
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive display
  • Slices and pits fruit for garnishing drinks according to cut and par specifications
  • Prepare drinks ordered by wait staff in a timely manner
  • Prepare beverages according to designated recipes
  • Must pass occasional quizzing of recipe knowledge
  • Educates guests and team members about the many different libations offered complete with appropriate garnishment
  • Monitors consumption of alcohol by guests
  • Upholds standards set by Washington Liquor Control Commission
  • Attend all training meetings
  • The ability to learn and operate the POS system as trained
  • Responsible for maintaining a good attendance record
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
