Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, PC is a well-established law firm with a proud legacy spanning over 130 years. The firm stands as a collaborative and client-focused legal institution that is dedicated to delivering exceptional results across a wide range of legal and policy matters. With a team comprised of more than 700 attorneys and public policy advisors distributed across 20+ offices and 30 practice areas, Baker Donelson offers seamless and knowledgeable guidance to clients that range from Fortune 50 corporations and international conglomerates to dynamic regional start-ups. The strength of the firm lies in its deep understanding of its clients’ businesses, which allows the lawyers and staff to anticipate needs effectively and serve as trusted business partners. The firm’s culture is equally noteworthy, characterized by a strong commitment to inclusion, innovation, use of advanced technology, and comprehensive professional development. Working at Baker Donelson means becoming part of a dynamic environment where your skills and perspectives are highly valued, and where you have the opportunity to significantly impact the success of clients as well as your own career growth.
The Legal Project Manager position is part of the firm’s Client Solutions Group (CSG), which is a unique collective of legal professionals, technologists, and consultants dedicated to revolutionizing the delivery of legal services. Building on more than two decades of pioneering innovations—ranging from proprietary project-management tools to AI-driven drafting and diligence—the CSG embodies a relentless pursuit of fresh ideas that generate measurable data-driven value for clients. As a Legal Project Manager, you will collaborate with nationally recognized experts in technology, data analytics, pricing, project management, artificial intelligence, process improvement, knowledge management, and legal operations to design customized solutions for leading corporate legal departments. The role involves building direct client relationships and closely working with attorneys, Firm leadership, and other business service departments across the organization. This position provides a nurturing culture that celebrates curiosity, values every voice, and accelerates professional growth by ensuring that your innovations receive appropriate recognition and impact. Offering a flexible work model that includes hybrid and remote options, the Legal Project Manager is positioned to shape the future of legal service delivery while contributing significantly to the Firm's growth.
The Legal Project Manager role particularly focuses on partnering with the Legal Process Engineering (LPE) team and the firm’s attorneys to execute high-impact initiatives including legal operations optimization, knowledge management advancements, innovation projects, process improvements, and the rollout of matter-collaboration technology. You will be responsible for capturing and analyzing key data, distilling actionable insights, and providing concise updates that inform strategic decision-making across client portfolios. Reporting to a Director of Legal Process Engineering, you’ll help develop expertise in Baker Donelson’s project management methodologies, including their proprietary BakerManage approach. Responsibilities also include gathering requirements, drafting statements of work, setting up matter management platforms such as MS 365, SharePoint, and HighQ, training users, and providing ongoing support. This position also involves monitoring client portfolios to enforce billing guidelines, track matter updates, generate reports, and manage budgets or pricing.
In addition to project management, you will assist with process improvement efforts by applying proven legal operations practices and supporting clients' day-to-day legal operations functions. You will collaborate on institutional data hygiene responsibilities, develop training content and presentations for RFP responses and internal/external trainings, and conduct portfolio management trainings focusing on technologies and reporting tools. This role is suited for an organized, adaptable, and self-motivated individual with strong leadership and communication skills, who is ready to embrace a “do whatever it takes” attitude while balancing multiple competing priorities. Positions in Baltimore, Maryland, Washington D.C., and New Jersey offer salary ranges between $60,000 - $70,000, along with a competitive benefits package that includes health insurance, dental insurance, vision coverage, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid medical leave, new parent benefits, paid time off, and 401(k) matching. Baker Donelson fosters an inclusive work environment and is an equal opportunity employer.
