Job Description
Hawthorne is a distinguished leader in the multifamily management industry, recognized as one of the top 50 largest companies in the nation. Proudly rooted in the Southeast, Hawthorne excels in managing award-winning apartment communities with a clear commitment to service, connection, and exceeding expectations. The company’s signature Live It culture emphasizes heart-driven leadership and purposeful operations to create outstanding living experiences for residents. Hawthorne’s steadfast dedication to fostering vibrant, welcoming communities makes it a premier choice for residents and employees alike. As a multifamily management firm, Hawthorne focuses on leasing, property management, resident engagement, and community development to ensure that each property under its umbrella thrives in both occupancy and resident satisfaction.
The role of Leasing Consultant at Hawthorne is integral to the community’s success and directly impacts the resident experience. Known as Leasing & Live It Specialists, these professionals serve as the face and ambassadors of Hawthorne’s Live It culture. This position goes beyond traditional leasing duties, involving community engagement, resident interaction, and promoting a sense of belonging. A Leasing Consultant at Hawthorne creates positive first impressions by greeting prospective residents with warmth and professionalism and conducting personalized apartment tours designed to showcase lifestyle benefits and community values. The role requires handling inquiries promptly and thoroughly via phone, email, and online platforms, ensuring every potential resident feels informed and valued.
Leasing Consultants drive leasing success by converting leads into signed leases through persistent follow-up, relationship building, and in-depth knowledge of resident needs. This also involves completing leasing applications, verifications, and move-in paperwork with accuracy while contributing to overall community occupancy and renewal goals. Building and nurturing relationships with current residents is another key function, with responsibilities including coordinating and attending resident events, managing community engagement initiatives, and responding empathetically and efficiently to resident concerns. The role also supports maintaining a clean and inviting environment by assisting in the upkeep of office and common areas.
Beyond direct resident interactions, Leasing Consultants contribute to the broader community awareness and branding efforts by aiding marketing initiatives such as social media campaigns and community outreach. Staying informed about local market trends and competitor properties ensures that Hawthorne remains competitive and responsive to market dynamics. Success in this role requires a positive attitude, strong communication skills, customer-focused service, persuasiveness, and a willingness to learn and adapt to Hawthorne’s standard practices.
The position follows a work schedule that includes Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with one weekday off weekly to maintain a 40-hour workweek. Evening and weekend availability may occasionally be required for special resident events or community-specific needs. Leasing Consultants at Hawthorne enjoy a comprehensive rewards package, including monthly leasing and renewal commissions, incentive programs, and opportunities for career advancement through the Career Path Program. Professional development is strongly supported with ongoing learning and development efforts to help employees grow within the company. Personal benefits include free dental insurance, medical and vision coverage options, health incentives, a 401k retirement match program, paid time off including birthday leave, paid sick time off, pet insurance, paid family leave options, telehealth access, company-paid life insurance, and retirement planning resources, ensuring a well-rounded employee experience. Hawthorne is committed to equal opportunity employment, fostering diversity and inclusion within its workforce.
