Job Description

Portico is currently seeking a Leasing Consultant for its Hazelwood apartment community located in Tyler, Texas. This role plays a crucial part in achieving the community’s leasing and occupancy goals. The Leasing Consultant is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service to prospective tenants and current residents, ensuring a seamless leasing process and fostering high resident satisfaction and retention. This position involves converting leads into leases, assisting with daily office operations, and maintaining the professional presentation of the community.

As a Leasing Consultant at Hazelwood, you will be the primary ambassador of the Portico brand, creating positive first impressions and ensuring every interaction reflects the company’s high standards. Your responsibilities will encompass responding promptly to inquiries through various channels, conducting personalized tours, processing rental applications efficiently, and preparing lease documentation with accuracy. You will also follow up with undecided prospects to maximize leasing conversions and maintain thorough and accurate leasing records in the property management system. Compliance with Fair Housing laws and adherence to company policies are imperative in this role.

Beyond leasing activities, you will contribute to marketing initiatives and ensure the leasing office, model units, and tour paths are inviting and well-maintained. The role also includes supporting resident relations through prompt response to requests, processing service orders, and conducting outreach to encourage lease renewals. Administrative duties such as data entry, report preparation, inventory management, and office organization will be part of your daily tasks.

This role requires collaboration with various teams including maintenance staff, corporate associates, vendors, and community partners to ensure a cohesive and efficient operational environment. Successful candidates will bring strong communication, sales, and customer service skills, be detail-oriented, and demonstrate a professional demeanor with a team-oriented attitude. The position may require standing for extended periods, working in pet-friendly environments, and flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum six months of leasing, sales, or customer service experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum six months of leasing, sales, or customer service experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Respond promptly to inquiries via phone, email, and online platforms
  • convert leads into property visits and leases
  • conduct personalized community tours that align with each prospect's preferences and needs
  • accurately process rental applications and communicate approvals or denials within established timelines
  • prepare lease documents, addenda, and move-in materials
  • coordinate with maintenance for unit readiness
  • follow up with undecided prospects to maximize leasing conversions
  • maintain accurate guest cards, application logs, and leasing documentation in OneSite
  • adhere to Fair Housing laws and company policies at all times
  • maintain a clean, inviting leasing office, model, and tour path daily
  • execute opening and closing procedures to ensure a professional presentation
  • participate in marketing initiatives, outreach programs, and competitor market surveys
  • monitor and replenish leasing materials, signage, and refreshments as needed
  • deliver exceptional customer service and handle resident requests promptly and professionally
  • support resident retention efforts through proactive renewal outreach and community engagement
  • process service requests accurately and coordinate follow-up with the maintenance team
  • promote a positive living environment consistent with Portico's customer service standards
  • enter all leasing and resident activity into OneSite daily and maintain data accuracy
  • prepare reports, maintain organized files, and manage office inventory
  • respond to calls and emails in a timely, professional manner
  • support compliance with safety procedures and operational policies
  • partner effectively with the community team, maintenance staff, and corporate associates
  • build positive relationships with vendors, sister communities, and industry partners
  • participate in team meetings, training, and special projects as assigned
