Job Description
Chimes DC is a purposeful and dedicated organization that provides custodial and janitorial services, specializing in maintaining hygienic and clean environments within military and government installations. With a strong commitment to quality and safety, Chimes DC partners with military installations, adhering rigorously to contract specifications and relevant standards to ensure exceptional service delivery. As a reputed company in the custodial services industry, it emphasizes reliability, thorough training, adherence to safety protocols, and fostering a respectful and productive team dynamic. Chimes DC operates with a focus on both employee development and customer satisfaction, which reflects their mission to not only maintain exemplary cleanliness but also to nurture a workforce capable of meeting the highest professional standards. This position is based in North Carolina, where a valid REAL ID is mandatory to enter the installation, as the base will not issue passes without this identification.
The Lead Custodian position at Chimes DC is a dynamic and integral role that involves manual labor tied to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, along with leadership responsibilities to manage and oversee custodial teams. Scheduled from Monday to Friday between 5:30 pm and 1:30 am, this role pays $18.47 per hour and requires a candidate skilled in both custodial duties and team leadership. The Lead Custodian is tasked with directing daily cleaning operations, ensuring the adherence to government contractual obligations, and maintaining the timely transportation of crew members across various installation locations. This role carries substantial responsibility, including enforcing safety, OSHA, and security policies that safeguard military facilities and uphold contract compliance.
In this role, you will be the coach and mentor to newly hired custodians, responsible for their training and development to ensure quality and compliance with established cleaning protocols. You will evaluate and assign tasks to custodial staff, rectify any deficiencies in their work, and report issues such as broken fixtures to supervisors promptly. Additionally, the Lead Custodian is entrusted with ensuring facilities are well-stocked and maintained, encompassing restrooms, fitness centers, kitchens, and high-traffic common areas. The position requires proficiency in using various cleaning techniques, operating cleaning equipment, and following strict uniform and hygiene standards.
Moreover, secondary duties involve specialized floor care, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet cleaning that meets contract demands. The role may occasionally require you to oversee inventory, cover supervisory tasks in absences, and assist with winter-related responsibilities like snow and ice removal. Physical demands include the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and navigate stairs and confined spaces under variable weather conditions.
Chimes DC values leadership, attentiveness, flexibility, and a strong work ethic in their custodial teams. They seek individuals who can operate independently yet collaboratively, respond swiftly to management communications, and maintain constant safety awareness. In return, Chimes DC offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement options, and various employee recognition programs. This role offers an excellent career path for candidates interested in advancing within a purpose-driven organization that supports both professional growth and community service.
