Job Description

The Pueblo of Sandia is a sovereign Native American community located in New Mexico, known for its vibrant culture, strong community values, and commitment to economic development and self-sufficiency. Among its various initiatives is a commitment to offering high-quality food service operations that adhere to rigorous standards of cleanliness, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, embodying the philosophy of integrity, fairness, collaboration, communication, and recognition for performance excellence. This approach not only supports employee retention and development but also ensures the ongoing success and growth of the Pueblo today and for the future.

Within this framework, the Pueblo of Sandia seeks to hire a dedicated and skilled Stewarding Supervisor who will lead the kitchen employees in maintaining a hygienic, efficient, and economical food service environment. This supervisory position plays a critical role in overseeing the dish pantry department, which involves the collection, sorting, cleaning, and maintenance of dishes, glassware, and silverware used throughout the Pueblo's food service venues. The Stewarding Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that kitchen and wait staff have access to clean utensils and dishes, managing dish washing equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and kitchen sanitation standards compliant with health department regulations. The position is integral to maintaining high standards of food safety, customer satisfaction, and efficient kitchen operations while supporting the culture of teamwork and professionalism.

Candidates for this position must hold a high school diploma or equivalent, have at least two years of related stewarding experience, and meet age and certification requirements, including successful completion of a food handlers' course and passing background and drug screenings. The work environment can be both indoors and outdoors, with physical demands that include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, and operating complex kitchen equipment. Embracing the core values of the Pueblo, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a respected community and grow professionally within a supportive and dynamic workplace.
