Job Description
Franchise World Headquarters, LLC, commonly known as Subway Headquarters, is a leading global restaurant company that supports thousands of franchisees across more than 100 countries. As one of the world's largest and most recognized quick-service restaurant brands, Subway operates over 35,000 restaurants globally. The company is dedicated to enhancing franchisee profitability, strengthening the brand image, and creating sustainable long-term value. Subway's commitment to innovation and continuous improvement is reflected in its dynamic team culture, where energy, accountability, and a bias for action are highly valued qualities.
At Subway, the workplace philosophy emphasizes fast-paced decision-making, ownership mentality, and high standards of performance while fostering a supportive and collaborative team environment. The company encourages employees to shape their roles actively and contribute meaningfully to the business's future success. Subway offers a unique opportunity to be part of a growing and evolving business dedicated to setting new benchmarks in the restaurant industry.
The role of Lead Software Engineer, Menu Platform, presented at Subway Headquarters, is a critical leadership position focusing on the technical direction of Subway's menu platform. This platform serves as a vital component of the business, managing the menu data that underpins every promotion, pricing decision, and order processed across numerous digital and physical channels. The position offers a chance to lead the architectural overhaul and modernization of Subway's core menu platform, ensuring its reliability and adaptability for the next decade.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role that emphasizes both coding and strategic architectural decisions rather than people management. The successful candidate will spend much of their time developing and shipping code, leading design reviews, and driving day-to-day project delivery. They will also mentor and elevate the technical capabilities of the engineering team.
Key responsibilities include steering the re-architecture of the menu platform from legacy systems to modern TypeScript stacks, improving backend services, guiding the prioritization and execution of development tasks, and integrating artificial intelligence tools to enhance development speed and system capabilities. The role requires a deep technical proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, React Native, and backend service frameworks, as well as a strategic mindset to influence system design for scale and longevity.
With a comprehensive benefits package and a collaborative, innovation-driven environment, this position is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned software engineer seeking an impactful role within a major global brand. The compensation range for this position is $138,300 to $172,900 annually, reflecting the importance and seniority of the role within the company's operations.
