Starling is currently seeking a Lead Server to join our Culinary team at The Grove at Canopy. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the restaurant by motivating and guiding the server staff to provide excellent customer service. As the liaison between the kitchen and the front of the house, the Lead Server plays a crucial role in communication, team coordination, and maintaining high standards of service. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience in a similar high-volume restaurant environment and proven skills in customer service and staff training.

The Lead Server will be responsible for overseeing the front of house operations, including opening and closing dining room duties, organizing shift schedules, and monitoring staff performance and dress code. Additionally, this role involves direct interaction with residents and guests to ensure their dining experience is enjoyable and any concerns or complaints are resolved promptly and efficiently. The Lead Server will also assist with recruiting new team members and developing training programs to foster continuous improvement within the staff.

This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, and a commitment to adhering to all local regulations regarding health, safety, and compliance policies. Job Requirements

  • Management experience of at least 1 year
  • Minimum 2 years experience in restaurant or hospitality industry preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Compliance with health and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a lead server or similar role in high volume atmosphere for a minimum of 2 years
  • Proven customer service training experience
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to handle guest complaints effectively
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations relevant to the hospitality industry

Job Duties

  • Monitor employee dress code
  • Perform Dining Room opening and closing duties, and ensure all servers are trained to perform
  • Attend management and staff meetings
  • Interact with Residents by answering questions, solving problems, overseeing services, taking reservations and introducing him or herself to prospective Residents on tours
  • Undertake special projects as requested
  • Respond efficiently and accurately to Resident complaints
  • Organize and supervise Front of the House team member shifts
  • Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
  • Adhere to local regulations concerning health, safety, or other compliance requirements, as well as brand standards and local policies and procedures
