The Lead Server position is a full-time role that plays a significant part in maintaining the high standard of service and hospitality Oakmont is known for. This role requires a tremendous sense of responsibility and professionalism, as the Lead Server sets an example for the entire server team and coordinates team schedules. The position is also an important gateway to higher supervisory opportunities within the community, offering room for career growth. The pay range for this role is competitive, ranging from $18.50 to $19.50 per hour, and includes full benefits such as medical, dental, vision coverage, vacation, sick pay, personal days, holidays, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, and more.

Responsibilities of the Lead Server include serving residents, their families, and visitors in a friendly, courteous, and dignified manner while ensuring compliance with proper serving techniques and etiquette. The Lead Server is responsible for managing food and beverage orders accurately using the point-of-sale system, setting up and breaking down tables, maintaining a safe environment, and encouraging teamwork through effective interactions with co-workers and other departments. This role is integral to enhancing the dining experience and supporting the overall mission and values of Oakmont Management Group.

Ideal candidates for this position are those who possess excellent customer service skills, a strong desire to work with and care for the elderly, and effective communication skills to interact with a diverse group of people including healthcare professionals, residents, and their families. Experience is preferred but not required, as Oakmont provides training for the right candidates. Candidates must be at least 16 years old with a work permit, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and pass required background and health screenings. Additionally, in alignment with health and safety regulations, team members may be required to participate in vaccinations, daily health screenings, and wear personal protective equipment to prevent the spread of communicable diseases such as COVID-19.

Job Requirements

  • Possess written and verbal skills to interact and communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, physicians, healthcare professionals, residents, and their families
  • Must pass a criminal background check and health screening tests, including physical and TB tests
  • Willingness to follow health and safety protocols including vaccination, screening, testing, and use of personal protective equipment as required

Job Duties

  • Serve residents, family members, and visitors in a professional, dignified, efficient, and courteous manner
  • Accurately and professionally take residents' and guests food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS (point of sale computer)
  • Set up and break down (bus) tables
  • Assure compliance with all proper serving techniques/etiquette (e.g. serving from left, clearing used dishes between courses, etc.)
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests, following established safety standards
  • Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments
