Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of supervisory experience or related experience/training preferred
  • Ability to perform cash handling and register operations
  • Capability to assist in store opening and closing
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 55 pounds
  • Capacity to perform frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and occasional climbing using step ladder
  • Own transportation for occasional driving to fulfill job duties
  • Availability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise levels
  • Commitment to follow company policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability
  • Ability to perform IBM cash register functions
  • Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices
  • Effective interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of safety policies and practices
  • Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance

Job Duties

  • Unload trucks according to prescribed process
  • Follow company work processes to receive, open and unpack cartons and totes
  • Stock merchandise, rotate and face merchandise on shelves, build merchandise displays
  • Restock returned and recovered merchandise
  • Order zones and drop shipment categories as assigned
  • Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance
  • Assist customers by locating merchandise
  • Bail cardboard and take out trash, dust and mop store floors, clean restroom and stockroom
  • Greet customers as they enter the store
  • Maintain register countertops and bags, implement register countertop plan-o-grams
  • Operate cash register and flatbed scanner, itemize and total customer purchases, bag merchandise
  • Collect payment and make change
  • Clean front end of store and help set up sidewalk displays
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized store and facilitate a safe working environment
  • Provide superior customer service leadership
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Open and/or close the store under specific direction of Area Manager
  • Authorize and sign for refunds and overrides
  • Count register and make bank deposits
  • Maintain strict cashier accountability, key control, and security practices
  • Monitor cash levels and make appropriate drawer pulls
  • Monitor cameras for unusual activities
  • Supply cashiers with change
  • Complete required paperwork and documentation
