The role of Lead Sales Associate at Dollar General is a pivotal position within the store. This role involves maintaining a clean, well-organized store with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. The Lead Sales Associate supports customers in locating and purchasing merchandise, operates cash registers, stocks shelves, and ensures the store environment is clean and welcoming. This position also entails assisting with store opening and closing procedures and playing a leadership role when the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager are absent. The Lead Sales Associate helps maximize store profitability and uphold company standards in asset protection and customer service. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • six months of supervisory experience or related experience/training preferred
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • understanding of safety policies and practices
  • ability to operate cash register functions
  • ability to perform basic math calculations
  • ability to follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides
  • knowledge of cash handling and store safety policies
  • capability to drive own vehicle for bank deposits
  • capacity to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 55 pounds
  • availability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
  • willing to stand, bend, stoop and kneel frequently
  • able to handle frequent walking and occasional climbing
  • willing to work under moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to weather

Job Qualifications

  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • understanding of safety policies and practices
  • ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides
  • ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages
  • ability to operate a cash register
  • knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices
  • knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
  • ability to drive own vehicle to the bank for deposits
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • six months of supervisory or related experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide superior customer service leadership

  • receive, open and unpack boxes, cartons and totes of merchandise
  • stock merchandise

  • take out trash
  • dust and mop floors
  • clean restrooms and stockroom
  • help set up sidewalk displays
  • assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms
  • open and close the store under direction of the Store Manager
  • perform duties of Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in their absence
