The role of Lead Sales Associate at Dollar General is a pivotal position that combines customer service with operational responsibilities to ensure the store runs smoothly and profitably. This position requires maintaining a clean and well-organized store environment with a strong customer-first focus. The Lead Sales Associate provides leadership by assisting customers, operating the cash register, stocking and recovering merchandise, and performing housekeeping duties necessary to create a welcoming retail space. In addition to these tasks, the Lead Sales Associate plays a critical role in implementing business processes such as following planograms and merchandising guides to maximize sales opportunities. Acting as a leader in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, this role demands a proactive attitude and the ability to fulfill supervisory duties effectively. The position requires interaction with customers and team members, emphasizing the importance of strong communication skills and responsible cash management practices. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • six months supervisory experience or related experience or training preferred
  • effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • understanding of safety policies and practices
  • ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides
  • ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
  • ability to perform cash register functions
  • knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices
  • knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
  • ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money

Job Duties

  • Provide superior customer service leadership
  • greet and assist customers
  • operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total customer's purchase
  • collect payment from customers and make change
  • bag merchandise
  • assist customers with merchandise as necessary
  • follow company work processes to receive, open and unpack boxes, cartons and totes of merchandise
  • stock merchandise
  • restock and rotate merchandise on shelves
  • build merchandise displays
  • clean the store
  • take out trash
  • dust and mop store floors
  • clean restroom and stockroom
  • help set up sidewalk displays
  • assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms
  • open and close the store under specific direction of the Store Manager
  • perform additional duties typically performed by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in their absence
