The role of Lead Sales Associate at Dollar General is integral in maintaining a customer-first, clean, and organized shopping environment. This position balances supervisory responsibilities with direct customer service, ensuring store efficiency and profitability. Lead Sales Associates assist customers by locating merchandise and facilitating purchases while also operating cash registers accurately. They manage stock by receiving, unpacking, and stocking merchandise, maintaining attractive displays, and adhering to company planograms. The role demands an active participation in store upkeep, including cleaning duties and trash removal, thus contributing to a safe and welcoming atmosphere for both customers and staff. Furthermore, Lead Sales Associates support the store management team by performing additional duties in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, demonstrating leadership and commitment to the store's operational success. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • six months of supervisory experience or related experience/training preferred

Job Qualifications

  • effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • understanding of safety policies and practices
  • ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides
  • ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
  • ability to perform cash register functions
  • knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices
  • knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
  • ability to drive own vehicle to bank to deposit money

Job Duties

  • provide superior customer service leadership
  • greet and assist customers
  • operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total customer purchase, collect payment and make change, bag merchandise, assist customers with merchandise
  • follow company work processes to receive, open and unpack boxes, cartons and totes of merchandise
  • stock merchandise, restock and rotate merchandise on shelves, build merchandise displays
  • clean the store including taking out trash, dusting and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms and stockrooms, help set up sidewalk displays
  • assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms
  • open and close the store under specific direction of the Store Manager
  • perform additional duties typically performed by Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in their absence
