The Lead Sales Associate role is a critical position within the store, designed for individuals who enjoy taking on responsibility, engaging with customers, and helping manage store operations. This full-time position involves assisting customers with locating and purchasing merchandise, operating the cash register, restocking and organizing shelves, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment. Lead Sales Associates also assist in implementing planograms—these are merchandising guidelines that optimize store layout and product placement. They play a leadership role within the team, often acting as the point person in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager. This position requires a strong customer-first focus to ensure an exceptional shopping experience, as well as the agility to handle daily operational tasks that drive store profitability and efficiency. The role offers an engaging, fast-paced work environment that combines customer service with hands-on store management duties. Skills in communication, safe work practices, and basic math are essential. Candidates with supervisory experience or related training are preferred. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • six months of supervisory experience or related experience or training preferred
  • effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • understanding of safety policies and practices
  • ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides
  • ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
  • ability to perform cash register functions
  • knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices
  • knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
  • ability to drive own vehicle to bank to deposit money
  • frequent walking and standing
  • frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling
  • frequent handling of merchandise and equipment
  • frequent and proper lifting up to 40 pounds, occasional lifting up to 55 pounds
  • occasional climbing using a step ladder up to six feet
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise
  • occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
  • occasional or regular driving providing own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings and travel to other stores

Job Duties

  • Provide superior customer service leadership
  • greet and assist customers
  • operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total customer's purchase, collect payment from customers and make change, bag merchandise, and assist customers with merchandise as necessary
  • follow company work processes to receive, open and unpack boxes, cartons and totes of merchandise
  • stock merchandise, restock and rotate merchandise on shelves, and build merchandise displays
  • clean the store
  • take out trash
  • dust and mop store floors
  • clean restroom and stockroom
  • help set up sidewalk displays
  • assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms
  • open and close the store under specific direction of the Store Manager
  • perform additional duties typically performed by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, in their absence
