The role of Lead Sales Associate at Dollar General is a key position that combines customer service excellence with operational leadership. This position plays an essential part in maintaining the store’s cleanliness, organization, and overall customer-focused environment. The Lead Sales Associate has primary responsibilities that include assisting customers with locating and purchasing merchandise, efficiently operating cash registers, stocking and recovering products, and ensuring the store meets company standards for safety and presentation. Acting as a leader within the store, the Lead Sales Associate not only performs the duties of a Sales Associate but also assumes a supervisory role by stepping in during the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager. This position demands strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment. Candidates must be capable of performing various duties such as merchandise stocking, planogram implementation, cash handling, and store upkeep which involves cleaning and merchandising displays. The role requires frequent physical activity including walking, standing, bending, and lifting items up to 55 pounds, making physical stamina and safety awareness important attributes. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • six months of supervisory experience or related experience/training preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • understanding of safety policies and practices
  • ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides
  • ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
  • ability to operate cash register functions
  • knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies
  • knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
  • ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money

Job Duties

  • Provide superior customer service leadership
  • greet and assist customers
  • operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total purchases
  • collect payment and make change
  • bag merchandise and assist customers
  • follow company processes to receive, open, and unpack merchandise
  • stock, restock, and rotate merchandise
  • build merchandise displays
  • clean the store including trash removal, dusting, mopping, and restroom cleaning
  • assist in planogram implementation and maintenance
  • open and close the store under Store Manager direction
  • perform additional duties of Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in their absence
