The role of Lead Sales Associate at Dollar General is a vital position within the store’s operational team. This role involves leading by example and assisting in the day-to-day functions that ensure the store is clean, well-organized, and customer-friendly. As a Lead Sales Associate, you will be responsible for providing superior customer service by greeting and assisting customers in a polite and efficient manner. You will operate the cash register and scanner to process purchases accurately and efficiently, as well as handle payments and make change when necessary. Additionally, this role requires stocking shelves, recovering merchandise, setting up displays, and following company protocols for safety and merchandising. The Lead Sales Associate also supports the implementation and maintenance of planograms, which are detailed merchandising guides that help maximize the store’s presentation and sales. In situations where the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager are unavailable, the Lead Sales Associate may perform additional supervisory duties to ensure smooth store operation. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • six months of supervisory experience or related experience/training preferred
  • ability to perform frequent walking and standing
  • ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling
  • ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 55 pounds occasionally
  • ability to climb step ladders up to six feet
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise levels
  • willingness to work in occasional outside weather conditions
  • ability to provide own transportation for bank deposits, management meetings, and traveling to other stores

Job Qualifications

  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • understanding of safety policies and practices
  • ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides
  • ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
  • ability to perform cash register functions
  • knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices
  • knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
  • ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money

Job Duties

  • Provide superior customer service leadership
  • greet and assist customers
  • operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total customer’s purchase, collect payment from customers and make change, bag merchandise, and assist customers with merchandise as necessary
  • follow company work processes to receive, open and unpack boxes, cartons and totes of merchandise
  • stock merchandise, restock and rotate merchandise on shelves, and build merchandise displays
  • clean the store
  • take out trash
  • dust and mop store floors
  • clean restroom and stockroom
  • and help set up sidewalk displays
  • assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms
  • open and close the store under specific direction of the Store Manager
  • perform additional duties typically performed by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, in their absence
