Job Description
SRCH Health Center is a community-focused healthcare organization dedicated to providing comprehensive medical services to diverse populations with compassion and respect. Established as a key medical facility, SRCH is committed to delivering high-quality care that addresses the health needs of its community members while ensuring a supportive and inclusive work environment for its employees. With a reputation for excellence and patient-centered care, SRCH offers various medical, dental, and behavioral health services, among others. As part of its commitment to operational excellence, SRCH strives to maintain efficient front office and administrative functions to support healthcare providers and enhance patient experiences.
The Lead Receptionist role at SRCH is a pivotal position designed to enhance customer service through peer leadership within the receptionist teams. This position provides organizational authority, enabling the individual to make vital decisions and ensure smooth operational flow in the absence of the supervisor. The role offers an hourly wage range from $25.67 to $30.62, depending on experience. This part-time to full-time position is critical in managing clinic operations, coordinating staff schedules, and maintaining communication between patients, receptionists, and clinical teams.
The Lead Receptionist will perform all duties expected of a Receptionist or Receptionist II, but with added responsibilities that include training new staff members, monitoring patient flow both at the front desk and on the phone, and ensuring that providers and patients remain informed of any schedule delays. Acting as the primary point of contact during supervisor absences, the Lead Receptionist is responsible for solving problems related to clinic flow and staff coordination. This role requires strong organizational skills as the lead receptionist will create and manage staff schedules, coordinate necessary breaks during clinic hours, and keep track of patient visits and no-shows to optimize clinic efficiency.
Additionally, the Lead Receptionist maintains up-to-date procedural protocols readily accessible to staff, assists with procedure reviews and updates, and manages electronic medical records by inputting provider and resource schedules. They also serve as a superuser for the electronic health record system, help maintain conference room schedules, and provide technical support for IT setup as needed. The role may include expanded duties such as ordering office supplies, managing petty cash, assisting with billing cleanup and patient reminders, and contributing to behavioral health referral coordination within site protocols.
The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, with demonstrated excellence as a receptionist, and a strong commitment to patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA policies. They should possess proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of back office and patient flow operations in a medical setting, especially related to pediatric and teen resources. This position demands good judgment, efficient problem-solving, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced clinic environment.
SRCH values diversity and equal opportunity employment, welcoming applicants regardless of age, ancestry, disability, gender identity, race, religion, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics. The organization also provides reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their jobs. This role is physically demanding and requires manual dexterity, the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, handle detailed data entry, coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, and perform occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds. The Lead Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring both patient satisfaction and operational effectiveness, serving as a cornerstone of front-office management in the SRCH healthcare team.
