The role in question is a critical position within the Radiology department focused on facilitating patient transports and assisting with supervisory functions. This full-time, nonexempt position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $20.00 to $22.41, based on experience and education. The schedule is structured as four 10-hour days per week from Monday to Friday, with shifts running from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and does not require weekend work, providing an excellent work-life balance.
This role demands a high level of responsibility and proficiency in safely transporting patients using a variety of motorized equipment and transfer devices within the Radiology unit and accompanying departments. The individual will frequently collaborate with nursing staff and will act as a leadership presence within the department, stepping into supervisory duties including scheduling and timekeeping as needed. Maintaining and checking equipment and supplies regularly, along with supporting and overseeing departmental projects, are key performance areas for this position.
Successful candidates must exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, handling patient interactions with professionalism and courtesy while adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and medical safety protocols. Competency in connecting and disconnecting patient monitoring equipment, understanding MRI-safe transport equipment, and managing various patient attachments such as intravenous pumps and ventilators are essential. The job also requires the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, demonstrating initiative and adaptability in a fast-paced medical environment.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum one year of hospital or clinical experience
- proficiency with patient transport equipment
- knowledge of safe patient transfer devices and techniques
- ability to connect and disconnect medical monitoring equipment
- understanding of MRI-safe transport equipment
- ability to follow medical isolation and sanitation protocols
- excellent interpersonal communication skills
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- physical ability to lift required weights
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or G.E.D equivalent
- associate degree preferred
- one year of hospital, clinical, or patient care experience required
- excellent communication, telephone, and human relations skills
- basic computer skills
- ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations
- ability to adapt to unpredictable and stressful situations while maintaining a calm demeanor
- demonstrated initiative and ability to respond quickly to patient needs
- ability to complete Mayo Clinic’s New Employee Orientation and General Systems Training
- ability to frequently lift 50 pounds unassisted and more than 50 pounds with assistance
Job Duties
- Monitor and facilitate patient transports throughout the radiology department and with nursing staff
- provide leadership presence within the department
- assist with supervisory duties such as scheduling and timekeeping
- act in the supervisor's absence
- regularly check equipment and supplies and report shortages, repairs, or needs
- assist and oversee department projects as directed by the supervisor
- complete patient transports and related tasks safely and timely while maintaining clean equipment and interacting professionally with patients, guests, and staff
