Job Description

SpaceX is a pioneering aerospace manufacturer and space transportation company founded with a visionary goal: to enable human life on Mars and foster humanity's expansion into the stars. Established in 2002 by Elon Musk, SpaceX has rapidly become an industry leader in the development of advanced space technologies, including reusable rockets and spacecraft, which revolutionize how we approach space exploration and commerce. Headquartered in Hawthorne, California, SpaceX's innovative work environment combines cutting-edge technology, engineering excellence, and a deeply motivated workforce committed to making space travel more accessible, sustainable, and efficient.

The Lead Porter role at SpaceX plays a vital part within the Food Services department, supporting the daily operational needs that help maintain a productive and motivated workforce. This position is responsible for managing a team in charge of ordering, receiving, inspecting quality, inventory management, and redistribution of food and related products throughout the campus. The Lead Porter’s work enables SpaceX’s culinary team to focus on crafting high-quality food offerings that contribute significantly to employee morale and efficiency.

As a Lead Porter, the individual will interact extensively with vendors, overseeing the entire supply chain process from order submission to receipt and inventory control. This role demands a strong command of inventory systems, vendor communication, and data entry to ensure seamless and accurate product management. The position also involves quality control to verify that incoming products meet SpaceX's rigorous standards, assisting supervisors and training team members on safe food handling procedures, efficient receiving protocols, and sanitation practices.

Leadership is an essential component of this role. The Lead Porter guides the porter team in proper stocking, waste control, and sanitation procedures, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and company policies. Attention to detail, punctuality, and self-motivation are critical attributes for success in this position. Moreover, the Lead Porter collaborates closely with other departments, including the Hospitality team, coordinating catering deliveries and monitoring product usage to optimize inventory levels and minimize waste.

This role offers an hourly wage in the range of $24.00 to $27.00, with an additional lead differential of $2.00 per hour, depending on experience and level. SpaceX provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, vision, and dental coverage, retirement plans, paid vacation and holidays, parental leave, and various employee perks and discounts. The company’s commitment to an inclusive and supportive workplace makes it an inspiring place for motivated professionals seeking to contribute to the groundbreaking mission of space exploration.

Overall, the Lead Porter is a key player in maintaining the operational backbone of SpaceX’s Food Services department, supporting a work culture that values quality, efficiency, and teamwork. This role suits an individual who thrives in dynamic environments and seeks to elevate their leadership and logistics management capabilities within one of the most innovative companies in the world.
