Job Description
Town Meeting Bistro is a distinguished restaurant located within The Inn at Hastings Park, proudly recognized as the Boston area’s only Relais & Châteaux property. This prestigious accolade places the bistro among an elite group of hospitality establishments noted for exceptional service, outstanding culinary artistry, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Complementing this distinction are other honors including Forbes Four Star, 1 Michelin Key, and AAA Four Diamond ratings, all of which showcase the bistro’s dedication to excellence and its standing as a premier dining destination. The Inn at Hastings Park, positioned in a serene and charming location, offers guests an immersive experience that blends historic ambiance with modern comfort, with Town Meeting Bistro as its culinary jewel.
Town Meeting Bistro operates as a scratch kitchen, emphasizing fresh, handmade dishes developed daily from local and seasonal ingredients. The bistro operates seven days a week, serving breakfast and dinner daily, lunch Monday through Friday, High Tea on Saturdays, and a special Sunday brunch. This diverse and dynamic schedule invites a range of culinary creativity and allows the kitchen to showcase a wide variety of dishes reflecting New England flavors, seasonality, and sustainability.
The role of a Pastry Cook at Town Meeting Bistro is integral to the kitchen team’s success. The ideal candidate will be someone who can work independently, taking initiative and expressing creativity through the creation of seasonal dessert menus, weekly High Tea confections, and Sunday brunch pastries. The pastry cook is expected to contribute significantly to the kitchen’s innovative atmosphere, particularly in breadmaking as the kitchen produces its own bread in-house. There is a strong emphasis on pushing culinary boundaries through imaginative ingredient combinations and thoughtful presentation.
This position requires a genuine curiosity about food and a passion for baking and pastry arts. The environment demands a sense of urgency and efficiency, as service speed and quality are paramount to guest satisfaction. Compensation for the Pastry Cook role is competitive, with a base pay ranging from $20 to $25 per hour depending on the applicant’s experience. In addition to base pay, employees receive an additional service fee payout of $1 to $3 per hour monthly, tied to room occupancy, thus rewarding contributions to the overall guest experience. Employment is authorized only for individuals legally permitted to work in the United States.
Town Meeting Bistro also offers a comprehensive benefits package to support its staff, promoting wellness and work-life balance. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance; paid vacation; provision of uniforms; access to discounts at worldwide Relais & Châteaux properties; a 401k retirement plan; and free parking. All employee information will be handled confidentially in adherence to Equal Employment Opportunity guidelines.
In summary, this position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated pastry cook to join a celebrated restaurant that values creativity, quality, and a deep connection to regional flavors. The role promises a supportive environment where your skills can flourish, surrounded by a team dedicated to culinary excellence.
