The position available is that of a Pastry Chef, an essential role within the Bakery department of Harmons. This is an hourly-paid position, offering a competitive rate between $17.99 and $21.42 per hour. The Pastry Chef will be integral in maintaining the quality standards and product levels of all pastry products, ensuring each item meets the high expectations of Harmons customers. This role involves a variety of skilled tasks including preparing, cooking, mixing, baking, assembling, packaging, labeling, and decorating pastries. Beyond the hands-on baking duties, the Pastry Chef will also have responsibilities that include ordering, receiving, and storing bakery products to maintain inventory levels. Attention to detail and precision is crucial in determining production and inventory levels to meet the store's demand without excess waste.

A key aspect of the role is leadership and mentorship. The Pastry Chef will be tasked with training other pastry chefs, providing direct and constructive feedback to support the professional growth of the bakery team. The job requires open availability, including weekends and holidays, reflecting the store's commitment to serving customers throughout the week. The Pastry Chef will ensure the bakery maintains its cleanliness and appearance to company standards and will be involved in scheduling pastry staff to maintain smooth operations.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • one year bakery experience preferred
  • current Food Handler's Permit
  • ability to work weekends, holidays, and open availability
  • ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions
