Job Description
Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), located in Nashville, Tennessee, stands at the forefront of healthcare, combining teaching, discovery, and patient care to create a world-class medical environment. VUMC is recognized as a global crossroads where medical professionals, researchers, educators, and support staff come together with one mission: to advance health and wellness through preeminent programs in patient care, education, and research. Employees at VUMC are part of a vibrant, inclusive community that values expertise, fosters knowledge growth, and challenges individuals to exceed expectations every day. The center prides itself on cultivating an environment where diversity is celebrated, individuality is embraced, and all members of the workforce are empowered to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the broader mission of transforming healthcare.
Within this dynamic environment, Vanderbilt Health employs dedicated teams who are passionate about their work and take exceptional pride in improving patient experiences and outcomes. VUMC is committed to not settling for yesterday's achievements, instead continuously innovating and improving processes to ensure the highest standards of healthcare delivery. The organization supports employees through professional development opportunities, appreciation of their contributions, and a strong sense of community and purpose.
The Valet 10 position at Vanderbilt Health plays an integral role in supporting this mission by providing exemplary valet services that enhance the overall patient and visitor experience at VUMC. This role is designed for an experienced valet attendant who acts as the lead resource for families, visitors, and staff at the valet station. The valet lead is the central figure responsible for managing the valet operation independently, ensuring a smooth traffic flow and maintaining high standards of service quality. The role requires a commitment to safety, customer service excellence, and operational efficiency, making it a critical part of the patient and visitor journey through the medical center.
Responsibilities include leading valet station staff by managing ramp operations such as traffic flow, cleanliness, and appropriate staffing to meet service demands. The valet lead is accountable for monitoring service delivery, including supervising uniform integrity, courteous interactions like opening doors and using names, and providing accurate directions. This leadership extends to overseeing shift activity reports, tracking attendance and operational controls, managing supply inventory, and responding promptly and appropriately to any incidents or accidents.
Training new staff at the valet station is another critical function of this role, ensuring that team members are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to uphold Vanderbilt Health's high standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, has intermediate capabilities in customer service, communication, and driving practices, and shows the ability to lead peers and solve problems independently.
This position also demands adherence to safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies, ensuring a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. By fulfilling these responsibilities with dedication and professionalism, the Valet 10 lead helps foster a welcoming and efficient experience that supports Vanderbilt’s overarching mission of exceptional care and service excellence.
Joining Vanderbilt Health as a Valet 10 offers the unique opportunity to be part of a leading healthcare institution that values each employee's contribution and promotes continuous professional growth. Alongside competitive compensation, the position provides access to a comprehensive benefits package that supports your health, well-being, and career aspirations. Vanderbilt Health’s commitment to equal opportunity employment further ensures a workplace where everyone is treated with respect and given a chance to succeed, regardless of background or experience.
